Panama Shopping Guide
Centuries before
the Canal was built, Panama was already the
"Crossroads of the World". Products from the
most distant and exotic countries found their
way here, and still do. Now a days, the latest
in electronic and audio video equipment,
clothing, perfumes and cosmetics view in
popularity with goods from the Far-East.
The prices are very reasonable.
Merchandise Tax is 5% and shrewd bargaining
often gets you a lower price.
There are many
shopping areas in Panama. The old traditional
centre on Central Avenue is now a Walking
Area with a wide variety of stores from Hindu
Bazaars to audio visual stores (remember ask
for a better price).
Plaza Concordia a
mall on Via España, Felix B Maduro, Dante are
Department Stores and a lot of little's stores
boutiques with all kind of items.
Panama has joined
the North American trend towards shopping malls.
Multicentro Mall
near the Paitilla Clinic, and in the same area
Multiplaza Mall.
El Dorado Mall which is fairly close to the
centre of town on the Tumba Muerto, the road
which leads to the airport. Los Pueblos Mall in
Tocumen way. And the new
Albrook Mall
the biggest in Central America, build in front
of Albrook Airport( local airport), and it is
part of the National Land transportation
Terminal. Malls are opens from 10:00 AM to 8:00
